Next Ventures is a successful and rapidly growing technology recruitment specialist headquartered in London and with six international subsidiary offices.

To support the growth of the business, this new senior opportunity in the headoffice administrative team has arisen for a Head of Legal & Compliance. You will be working from prestigious 7th floor London head office, just 100 meters form Barbican tube station.

Next Ventures is seeking a Head of Legal & Compliance. We are looking for an experienced and highly competent qualified lawyer as the Head of Legal in Central London.
As our Head of Legal you’ll have the opportunity and responsibility to build on the current foundations and establish the Legal & Compliance department as the trusted partner for all our commercial activities as we continue to grow and scale our local and international business.
Ideally you will be an experienced legal counsel with a working knowledge of the recruitment industry, negotiating MSAs and navigating international compliance requirements.
This role will be based in our central London head office located close to Barbican underground station.

The responsibilities
Reporting directly to the CEO, in this role you will:

  • Oversee the management of the legal function and provide accurate, timely and pragmatic legal advice to support the Company’s business and commercial objectives;
  • Oversee the formulation, planning and implementation of an effective strategy in managing all legal and compliance risks;
  • Take the lead in regulatory matters, including data protection (GDPR), privacy;
  • Review, draft and negotiate service contracts with international clients;
  • Draft, review and revise Compliance policies and procedures to ensure that Next Ventures remain compliant with all current laws, rules and regulations (e.g. IR35, international deemed employment legislation, eligibility to work);
  • Support the Learning and Development function on all aspects of Contract and Compliance training for the sales department as required;

The skills and experience you need
This role requires you to have demonstrable experience in the following areas:

  • You have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Law;
  • Qualified solicitor (if not UK qualified, hold or eligible to hold a UK practising certificate under SRA rules);
  • Breadth and depth of knowledge of the recruitment industry;
  • Proven track record of experience providing expertise and management of compliance issues;
  • You have great communication and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure, effectively;
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in a pressurised environment;
  • Demonstrable experience of problem solving and root cause identification skills;
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization;
