Engineering Manager (Technical) – Munich – €Multi Billion Euro Ecommerce Company

We are recruiting for a global leader in the Ecommerce sector, who are headquartered in Munich and are currently searching for an Engineering Manager to lead several Development and Product Teams based in Munich and 3 other locations. The business is flourishing more than ever before, they had a turnover of €2.14 billion last year and are on target to generate over €2.91 Billion in 2022!!

They are a truly modern tech company were a big focus on creating innovative, data driven solutions, which allows their engineers to create market leading products.

They were one of the earliest companies to embrace cloud technologies in their sector and are many years ahead of the rest of the market, by 2016 they had migrated to a full Microservice architecture.

In this role you will have several Development Team Leads and Product Owners across the division reporting into you. You will be required, guide, inspire, motivate and improve the performance of each team and the products they are building. This is truly unique position to enter a very successful software company and they are looking for an inspiring, driven leader with a pure passion for technology.


  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop the teams technically and head count
  • Guide tech leads, architects, and teams to guide and monitor application architecture design and sound engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with all technical teams and support team to ensure optimum development and operations
  • Coordinate complex projects/programs spread over multiple agile teams.
  • Align stakeholder groups and coordinate any cross-functional dependencies.
  • investigate external technology trends, internal technology road maps and proactively steer staff development.
  • Hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing performance management responsibilities for the department
  • Mentor and coach teams and leadership on emerging best practices


  • Someone who is driven to maximize customer value derived from software and services with the goal of producing an experience that is beyond industry standards
  • Someone who remains close to technology and modern development practises, to ensure the team you manage are working in an optimal fashion
  • You have a long-term view of where the teams are headed. You should also possess the ability to think strategically and craft a high-level vision and opportunity.
  • You should be able to use data to identify opportunities and drive decisions proactively.
  • You should be comfortable with the responsibility and accountability of your engineering teams, product's design and quality, and the overall deployment and support of the products
  • You have a solid understanding of microservices, APIs, SDLC, AWS, and more.
  • You have seven or more years of experience working with and leading engineering teams.
